BSP a Best Performing Private Sector Organisation
BSP Financial Group Limited has been recognised by the PNG Human Resources Institute (PNGHRI) and awarded one of the two Best Performing Private Sector Organisations with Best Practices in its Human Resources & Information System – iChris.
BSP Group CEO Robin Fleming, in receiving the award on Tuesday 22nd November, 2022, from Governor General, Grand Chief Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae on behalf of PNGHRI said the award is a result of BSP being guided and built on its seven core values (Quality, Integrity, Leadership, Professionalism, Community, Teamwork and People).
And he commended BSP’s People and Culture (Human Resources) Team led by Group General Manager Hari Rabura who manages BSP’s 4, 560 staff across PNG, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, Laos and Cambodia for managing the multi-national business.
“The bank’s policies, procedures, practices, and systems are developed, led, managed, and overviewed by a PNG team. BSP is the only company in PNG that manages a multi-national business from PNG. You should never downplay the capability of Papua New Guineans being able to manage a multi-national team. I’m very proud to be a citizen of this country, I’m very proud of the efforts of Hari and her team, and I’m sure she will maintain the monopoly of this award,” Mr Fleming said after accepting the award on behalf of the BSP’s People & Culture Team.

This is not the first time BSP has received the Best Performing Private Sector Organisation award. Between the years 2013 and 2018, BSP was also recognised and given a similar award 6 years in a row.
BSP is part of the three-day PNG Human Resources Institute Annual General Conference that is currently underway in Port Moresby. Day 1 of the program also saw the 2022 Top HR Graduates from eight Tertiary Institutions receive respective awards.
Mr Fleming said BSP’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) has always been about further developing graduates from Higher Learning Institutions “and based on our experiences, it is nothing but of the highest quality, education and expectations. BSP has recruited over 300 plus graduates in total since the merger with PNGBC. More recently during a review and revamp of BSP’s GDP, 91 new staff have been hired under the program since 2018 and we will continue to do so next year with 23 new staff who have undergone the stringent screening process.”
Ok Tedi Mining Limited was the other Best Performing Private Sector Organisation recognised, in terms of its stringent Occupational and Safety Program - over 10 years without a Lost Time Injury – which is on par with current global standards in the mining and extraction industry sector.
Over 30 staff from BSPs People and Culture Strategic Business Unit are attending the 3 days conference. BSP is a Gold sponsor of the 2022 PNGHRI Conference.
